Greetings!
Looking into the log files, I noticed that I have a lot of "Error starting activity. Activity engine could not create new item.: URI...." followed by "{ActivityDatabaseDataSource::InsertItem} query failed [Microsoft][ODBC Microsoft Access Driver] Invalid argument."
What do these mean?
Also, I've recently upgraded our internet connection from a 12Mbps ADSL line to a 2Mbps Leased line. But our internet speed became much slower than before. Is there any configuration in WinGate that needs to be tweak for a leased line connection?
Please help!
Best regards,

Hi Alain
that error indicates some issue inserting records.
Since you're using Microsoft Access Driver for timeline, it may have filled up. MDB has a max limit of 2GB, after which things start to go pear-shaped.
You should check the size of the timeline.mdb file in WinGate\Packages\Timeline
As for the line speed - did you mean 2Mbps or 20Mpbs? I'd expect 2 to be a lot slower than 12, but if you're seeing the issue with the timeline database, that can slow things down a lot as well. WinGate 8 checks for this issue due to this problem, and doesn't allow you to configure timeline not to purge older records.

Hello, Adrien!
You are right! My WinGate Database has ballooned to more than 2GB. I tried "purge timeline...", but its mdb file size still remains the same. How do I reset/delete the file? And how do I change from Microsoft Access Driver to another Database?
We are using WinGate 7.3.1 build 3535.
Thanks!
Best regards,
Alain

Hi
you can just delete the file, but WinGate will need to be stopped at the time.
To change database,
1. set up a DSN in the system ODBC settings. You must use the 32 bit ODBC manager for this if on 64 bit windows (c:\windows\SysWOW64\odbcad32.exe).
* This DSN points to the database you want to use.
* don't need to create any tables, WinGate will do that
2. go to timeline settings, on the database tab, select the DSN you created.
3. Restart WinGate.
It's basically the same steps as for changing the cache index database which we have a video for here:
