Wingate Engine Startup slow!!

Hi,

I am using Wingate 7 in windows 7.

I am using 2 gateways to combine and use my internet connections using 2 routers in 2 subnets.

Wingate Engine approximately takes more than 5 minutes to initialize on startup of windows.

This is very irritating for me since I have to wait for the proxy server to be initialized till wingate engine loads.

Kindly help me!

My pc has 8 gb ram. No issues with hard disk space!

Hi

There are a few things that we know slow down the start-up of WinGate:

* Kaspersky and PureSight plugins
* very slow database for http cache index (if you're using WinGate 7 rather than WinGate 8)
* slow computer, or HD problems

which user database are you using?

I have 2 users who is Administrator and another user.

you mean how do you tell which user database you are using? You don't remember which one was chosen?

It should tell you which one you are using in the help tab alongside the Users and Groups in WinGate.

What about the other potential causes I mentioned?

Hi,

I have attached the screenshot of the wingate user.

1. The user I have logged in is also an administrator.
2.I checked with the antivirus and tried to disabled it - No effect
3. I tried to enable and disable http cache index - No effect.

None of the above helps in speeding up the proxy server.(wingate engine)

Can degrading of wingate will help? can i switch to a very lower version of wingate?

Hi

that looks like WinGate 7 (since there's a Connect button at the top). It has a much slower cache than WinGate 8, I would recommend updating.

p.s. and you're using the WinGate users and groups, so that shouldn't be a performance hit.

The web proxy in WinGate 8 should be a lot quicker than for WinGate 7 as well as the cache.
