I need to externally alter the banned IPs list (outside of Wingate & automated). I see in the registry under LOCAL MACHINE/SOFTWARE/QBik software/Wingate/Components/Wingate Network Driver/IP Ban Table there are sub-folders for banned ips. My questions are:
1) If I add a new entry from outside of Wingate (say, manually in registry), will Wingate pick it up automatically & immediately ban the Ip? The same for removing a banned ip?
2) If there are entries 0,1,2,3,4,5 & I remove entry 3, will it still be valid, or do I have to make them sequential, i.e. 0,1,2,3,4 in stead of 0,1,2,4,5?
I have written an app that calculate the traffic per IP from the history.dbf file, but want to automatically 'hard-cap' (& reset at month-end)IPs that go over their monthly limit. I do not use authentication.
Thanks QBik

Hi
WinGate only reads those registry entries on startup. So writing to them would require an engine restart to have it take effect.
We're actually doing a couple of things for the next major version that will make this easier for you, firstly adding traffic and data quotas, so you'll be able to specify these limits and have WinGate enforce them for you without having to write software to do it.
Also we are working on a COM interface to WinGate, so you'll have access to certain functionality via active scripting, PHP, Visual basic etc etc etc..
Cheers

Sounds cool. Thanks. I'll be checking this space... Everything is working 100% here, I just need to do the IP ban manually, but the COM interface will be nice. I'm using Delphi so it shouldn't be a problem.
