timeout per user

Aug 08 06 8:20 pm

Hi there,

Just would like to ask if it is possible to set a session timeout per user. Some of our users are not logging off after they have used the internet and it is bugging me because that's the main reason why we have to set authentication so that others who are not allowed will not have access. The problem is that some users leave it authenticated at the same time leaving the IE open so that they don't have to reauthenticate again upon going back to the computer. I would like to terminate that in a certain time of inactivity to keep the access of the internet secured from the people who are not allowed to use it.

Hope you can suggest the best solution or means to configure wingate to be able to do this.

Thanks,

Eric

Hi there,

By the way I'm using wingate (Gatekeeper) and WGIC as the remote client and server medium.

thanks.

Hi Eric,

Just had a look around and there is a 'User seconds online' available in the policies, this probably isn't just what you need though.

Someone else will call by and help out I'm sure.

Hi Eric

WinGate doesn't provide per-user session inactivity timeouts sorry - only per service.

If your users are using WGIC however, perhaps you would be better off using the Windows user database, then it will automatically authenticate using their current window credentials, which is invisible to the user.

then you can set a short timeout on the Winsock Redirector Service.
