Connections on Port 25

Sep 29 06 3:08 am

Hello,

I have recently set up an Exchange Server. I am currently only testing the Exchange Server using an email domain with 1 user. So there really should not be much email traffic going through my exchange server.

In Wingate, I have noticed a large volume of connections displayed in the Activity screen of connections to various IP addresses on port 25 from the Exchange machine. I also see a lot of MX lookups coming from the Domain Controller machine.

I have my Exchange Server set up to NOT relay unless the user is authenticated. I am suspicious of the activity I see. I took a couple screens shots of the activity on both the Exchange and Domain Controller machines. I was wondering if I could upload them somewhere and see if someone would look at them and tell me what they thought???

Thank you

I'll bet it's spam servers trying to connect to you.

Your exchange server is open to the web yes?

If wingate is blocking them, I wouldn't worry about it.

Thanks for the response. But if the activity I am seeing is taking place in the Activity screen, doesn't that represent outgoing connections, rather than incoming? I would think I would see the incoming activity in the Firewall tab. I see these connections in Activity along with all the other computers on my network and the outgoing connections they are making.

Or is the Activity tab showing me both, incoming and outgoing? I thought it was just outgoing, maybe I'm wrong about that.

Thank you

your right, the activity tab shows connections internally going out. i would have to see a picture.

tried photobucket?
