Hi, first of all thanks for your support, I really appreciate this kind of forums.
I have identified a problem (because it is the 7th time that I resintall windows2000/windowsXP) when I uninstall the WGC or I change the name of the LAN connection in the network places.
All begins with a faliure on the wingate client that suddenly stops works, and the programs star to send me messages that the socks are corrupted/unavailable e.g. getright.exe, emule.exe, iexplorer.exe, mozilla.exe, etc.
I check the IP (automatically asigned by the DHCP service) and there is all ok, next i check the PING command with the server, next I go to the wingate client aplication and hit the refresh button and there is no wingate server available, then go to the toggle command trying to re-start the wingate client to work fine... and there is nothing.
At this point the wingate server has not been touched and none special configuration has been made to it.
Then I restart the system and there is a RPC proceduture failure and the machine it is restarted (I now, but I got all the patchs and it is not the blaster virus).
Finally when I achieve restart the system, taking about 5 minuted to load completally ( I got an P4 2.8C and 512DDR system), the system it is unstable, all lagged, there is no acces to network, and my IP has been changed to 196.154.x.x (before was 192.168.0.4) I go and take a look at the server log... the DHCP service it is ok but there is no bidding asigned to my machine...
After that, and about a full uninstallation, (this last time the problems appears with no software installed), the history gets resumed to an full reinstallation trying again to find the failure.
Usually I got installed:
symantec antivirus client
symantec antivirus management center
symantec antivirus packager
remote anything (twd-industries)
Office 2002 (lattely 2003, but with the same results)
mozilla 1.5
emule
and others that dont have any internet/LAN access.
Anyone with the same problem please helpme, I have been using wingate since 1996 and it is the first time that this happens to me.
Thanks angain in advance
Javier
PD.: In past topics that I have published here, I have post my problem... the wingate client stops working and only start to work again going to the wingate client and hitting the "apply" button, after that the internet comes back (all this on the client machine), but all this problem seems to degenerate the WGC and finally fails and all the problem begins as I writed up here.

Hi Javier,
Have seen this, an XP machine, enabled WGIC for some webpost challenge/response issue that it was able to deal with, however it was all downhill, disabled NIC, network printing failed.
Solution: delete XP registry and ony NAT for this site onwards.

OK, thanks for the advice, now I do not know how to delete the NAT registry and the registry too...

the WinGate internet client is a Layered Service Provider DLL that is loaded by winsock in the context of applications that use sockets. So it is hard to fathom how this could cause problems with your LAN card.
However, there may be some system components that are loading the WGIC which may cause problems.
To see the applications that use the WGIC, look in the history in GateKeeper, you may then need to disable some of these applications in the WGIC on the client machine (set them to local mode).
