Sorry if I'm missing something obvious, but a rapid search through the various fora and help options has not shed any light.
I have Wingate Version 5, running fine, but it has just alerted me that my Gate Filter Version 1 licence has expired. I visited the relevant part of the QBik site but cannot find reference to which product it is included in. It shows in my system as a plug in to Wingate, but if so how come it has a timed licence?

The plug-ins for WinGate - GateFilter & Anti-Virus - have seperate licenses from WinGate it self.
That way you pay for what only what you need.

thanks Larry. That still leaves me with the problem that I couldn't find any update/re-licensing option on the QBik site. I guess that I'll just have to keep searching

Licences can be purchased through one of their resellers.

do you actually have GateFilter installed?
We have seen a problem with the VisNetic AntiVirus doing this occasionally, but only in some upgrade scenarios.
If you don't have it installed, you can ignore this message. We now provide another product called PureSight for WinGate which is substantially the same (based on the same technology)
