Ethereal on Proxy Server

Guys,

I know that you do netpatrol for monitoring networks and its going to be good because its from your guys however, I'm on a small home network with just a maximum of 6 users. I therefore cannot justify $250 for netpatrol.

Ethereal of course can do this but in a switched network with $15 switches, you cant port mirror so that wont work for me either. The only common interface I can monitor is the 100M interface from the switch inter my wingate server.

So My question (sorry for rambling) can Ethereal coexist on my Wingate machine and will I need to install winpcap also?

in my experience Ethereal works fine on a wingate machine.
