Hi all
I installed Wingate on my server at work. It works great while it works. The huge problem is that it stops at random times. And I don't know what to do with it.
Things I've tried:
1.delete the history files.
2.Change my network cards. Thought it will help. but nothing.
3.Reinstalled Windows and updated Windows and all the drivers for the components.
What happen is that Gatekeeper stops responde and when I am trying to update and resume all the activity is gone. And when I am trying to relaunch gatekeeper I am getting this error message..
What to do. I really love Wingate. It makes my life much easier,
Any Ideas?
Thanks

G'day,
A few ?'s
Which version of Wingate
Operating system version
Can clients still connect to the internet via Wingate
Can you ping the Wingate machine from a client

1. Wingate 6.2.0 1121.
2. Windows XP Professional with all the updates available.
3. No. The internet stops working.
4. No. The firewall blocks ping to the local server.
Thank you

Make sure no firewall is blocking, or another service is using, port 808. This is default port that WG's remote control service uses and where Gatkeeper connects to.

Nothing uses this port. I don't care if Gatekeeper will stop update and if I will reopen it it will start to work.
The problem is that Wingate stops working. The network cards are working and I can access servers inside my lan. But if Wingate server stucks no one inside my lan has internet. That's a huge problem.
The only way to restart wingate is to restart the machine. And then it will work for unknown time. I've tried to restart wingate server in Services.msc but it hangs on restarting.
Thank you for your help.

Oh,
In the network tab are the NIC's marked as external / internal correctly.
Try to monitor Wingate's memory consumption in task manager with added column of Peak Memory usage could be interesting.
Report back how it goes.

I monitored the Wingate's services. Nothing special. 17mb. and the memory consumption didn't exceed more than 24mb. That's not the problem.
And yes. The external and internal cards are set correctly.
I read the link that you gave me and I found something really interesting.
Something that I didn't thought worth mentioning. Thought the problem was the computer hardware.
My office where the server is, Is in a library. Inside the library there are a lot of Dell Gx280. I took one computer and turned it to a Wingate server. I added more memory. In the link he wrote that the computer froze after a few hours. That what happened to the first Dell computer that I took. I took another one and installed Wingate on it. And in this computer the computer doesn't freeze but Wingate is. He wrote that the ver 6.0.4 works great now. I found this version on Tucows. I think it's some bug in the newer version. I am working with the latest Wingate. I will downgrade to 6.04. and see if the problem goes away.
Will try and update. Hope that this is the problem.

Let us know if it helps. Others may need to know as well.

O.K. I've reinstalled Windows XP. Didn't want to take any chance.
Installed Wingate 6.0.4 and disabled Auto update.
Setup everything. And everything works good for at least 6 hours. GateKeeper is still running without pausing.
Now lets hope that it will work nonstop.
Will update if there's any change for Good\Worse.
Thank you.

No!!!!
It didn't helped at all.
The server still stops responding..
Any other suggestions?
*Something interesting is that the cache is on 1000m. And that makes the Wingate server to work much more time. So I created a bat file that every 24hr will delete the cache files. Lets see if it works.
Will update.

A little update.
I've raised the page file size from 756-1500 to 3000min-6000max.
And now Wingate runs 2 days in a row.
Will update..

I installed a software named Memory guard.
And it works 24\7hours now!!!
I ran Memtest and the memory is 100 error free.
So It must be some kind of bug in Wingate or Windows or the bios. I really don't care now because it works 24\7.
Now I can sleep in peace.
