I want to use Vonage Telephony system in my network. They have recomended a hardware router, but I feel that Wingate 5.2 can take care of the matter. Let me narrate the whole problem:
I am inside a network given to us by a friend. We are behind a router and thus our IPs are not real IPs. I have a typical networking scenario, my main PC is running on XP Professional and I have two network card, one is connected to the internet with an IP 10.12.0.10 in a sub of 255.255.255.0 which goes to a DSL modem, we do not login. On the PC I have Wingate 5.2.0 (Build 885). I have the DHCP serverof wingate running the IP is from 192.168.0.2 – 254 so all my computers in the internal network receives their IPs automatically, I do not have the mail server running. The DHCP is bound to the other NIC with IP 192.168.0.1 with sub 255.255.255.0
I cannot connect to the Vonage system (no dial tone)
The answer they(Vonage tech Suppoert) gave was
I would recommend
using a hardware router. The problem you are having is most definitely
due to the fact that you will need to forward UDP ports 69, 123, 5060 -
5063, and 10000 - 20000.
This is what I have done:
In the "Extended Networking" I have I have clicked on NAT and router
In the Firewall wall section I have clicked on Cutom, in the "Prot Security" I have addedall the ports(to UDP) mentioned above and clicked on all three kind of connections and the deafult action being "Allow"
It still dosen't work, is there anyone who can help me?

Works fine for me.
I just followed their installation instructions, added the IP of their router as an Assumed User, gave that user permission to use the service and done.

First question do u have a live IP at your end?
Second, you have given "added the IP of their router as an Assumed User" which router are you talking about, please can you tell me all the steps u took? This will be of great help, thanx for the reply again.

I have a cable modem connected to the external port of the Wingate machine.
I then have the internal network port of the Wingate machine connected to a switch/hub.
I took the VOIP router (Cisco) provided by Vonage and connected it's network port to the switch/hub and followed the initialization instruction that came with it.
Connect a phone to line1, pick up the handset (you may not get a dial tone at this point) and enter 80#. You should hear an IP from your internal network.
If you don't hear an IP, then start over including resetting your Wingate box.
Once you get an IP, I created an assumed user with the specific IP and granted it access to get out using Wingate.
Should work fine at this point.
You can usually see the phone with a connection to Vonage on the activity window.
Hope I was clear enough but feel free to ask anything else.
