Internet sharing doesn't work!

Dec 29 03 4:40 am

Hello everybody.

I've got the following problem with sharing my Internet connection:
I'm running Wingate server on a WIn2000 machine, recently set up. I have a DSL dial-up internet connection, which works perfectly on the server.
My clients (tried win2000 and xp) get IP from the dhcp server, and gateway and so on. Wingate Server also connects to my ISP via the modem, when the clients want to access to a page via IE.
But the problem is, that the clients doesn't retrieve any data.
In the wingate action windows i can see that a client is connected an in the history stands e.g.: DNS-lookkup for www....., but the clients don't get anything.
I didn't change some user rights so everybode has access to my dialup connection in wingate.
On he client side i tried it with simple NAT, so didn't installed wingate, and i also tried it with this wgic thing. But same problem for both.
But i don't really know if the wgic client thing really works, because when establishing connection no dial-up icon or something appears.

I tried with serverl versions 5.2.2, 5.0.x, but same problem for all of them.

many thanks for any suggestions so far.

greets, achi

You don't need to install WinGate on the clients. However, there are two things you can check quickly.

1. Make sure that the NIC on the WinGate server that connects to your local network is marked as Private|Trusted in the Advanced Options.

2. Make sure that the gateway and DNS assigned from DHCP (Windows 2000) is set to the WinGate machine (As you are using NAT). You could try configuring one machine without using DHCP but using a static IP, etc.
