Help: How to turn off MS Internet Connection Sharing ??

Dec 29 03 6:42 am

I cannot install WinGate because apparently MS Internet Connection Sharing and/or the Internet Personal Firewall or enabled. How can I turn these off on Windows XP?

I have tried going into Network Connections, selecting a particular connection, and disabling the Internet Connection Firewall setting on the Advanced tab of each connection's Properties. However, one still shows as shared despite the before mentioned disabling of that check box.

Is there a sure fire way to disable Internet Connection Sharing and any Internet Personal Firwall on Windows XP? Thanks!

Right click on My Computer, select Manage, expand Services and Applications, select Services, right click on ICF / ICS select properties, set start up type to Disabled.
