Windows Update

Dec 31 03 10:05 am

I have downloaded the latest version of Wingate. However, I'm having trouble with Windows Update. Basically, when I attempt to log onto Windows Update, it is not be redirected to "https", rather the URL is staying as "http".

I can manually edit the URL and type in "https" and Windows Update works fine.

Is this a Wingate issue? Is something stoping Wingate from connecting.

FYI the is one Wingate server and 5 clients. 2 Windows XP and 2 Windows 98 machines (server is Win 98). The Win 98 machines have no problems connecting. Whe Windows XP machines are the ones with the problems.

Fixed my own problem. For whatever reason, the solution was to go in Internet Explorer Tools; Internet Options; Connections; Lan Settings;

Uncheck "Automatically Detect Settings"

Check "Use Proxy Server For Your Lan"

I can now automatically access Windows Update for the Windows XP clients through the Windows XP server.
