Over the summer we installed DSL and had no problems. This fall someone used our IP address to spam through us. We corrected that by not binding the DSL IP address in WinGate. In the midst of this we tried disabling the Guest user so only authenticated users could access WinGate. (we are using an NT4 server with mixture of WIN95/98/2000 clients)
Our idea is to disable Guest users in WinGate thus allowing only users authenticated by NT4 and WinGate.
Our problems:
1 - when we disable Guest users - if the server needs to re-boot, WinGate re-enabes the Guest user; is there a way to completely disable it?
2 - sometimes when the Guest user is disabled, WinGate will not allow clients access (calling them Guests) even though they are logged on our network and in the list of Users in WinGate.
Any help?
Thanks,
phil

basically it is problematic to disable the guest account, since it is used for a couple of things internally.
You can however ban the guest user from using certain services.
