stoping more than one computer connecting

Jan 14 04 8:27 am

right now the system i have set up shouldn't have more than one computer connecting to it. but just today i saw that another computer was connected to it. yes you can ban the person from getting on, but i'd like to keep others off. is there anyway, using gatekeeper and a socks client, to make sure that only that one computer will be able to connect? or is there no saftey hazard having someone else on?

please help me as soon as you can.

Alright, the easiest way to do this is as follows:

If you know the IP address of the single computer you want to access WinGate, you can setup a per-location filter for either the service or ALL your system policies.

Per Service:
1. Open the appropriate service
2. Switch to the Policies Tab
3. Add "EveryOne"
4. Switch to the Location Tab
5. Enter the IP address you want to grant access to
6. Click [OK]
7. Set "System Rights" to "Are Ignored".

This will then ONLY allow access to that service from a specific IP address.

For all services:
1. Switch to the Users tab
2. Open System Policies
3. Double click "Everyone"
4. Switch to the Location Tab
5. Enter the IP address you want to grant access to. I'd recommend you add the loopback / WinGate Server IP here as well if the other machine is a client machine.
6. Click [OK]

This will restrict access to ALL services to the listed IP addresses.
