Just a few questions so we can narrow the problem,
What settings did you put in WinGate?
Was "Lan Connections to the Internet" chosen? when you were setting the TCP port 4662 in ENS? This will allow the port to be open for clients trying to access this port to the Internet.
What type of connection method NAT,Wgic ,Proxy are your clients using when they use emule?

well I got it working. However suggest you use e-mule instead of e-donkey. Both apps however are quite critical when it comes to the ports used alongwith firewalls and routes. Suggest you have a look at the following page: http://emule.sourceforge.net/faq/ports.htm which will give you a good idea about the ports you have to open on the server.
Depending on the the o/s you are using in case it is WINXP or Server2003 you might also want to have a look at the built-in firewall and disable the same because with this firewall enabled you will never be able to connect ...
