Unable to enabled additions to the cache

Mar 13 07 3:03 am

I've just upgraded our version of Wingate to the latest version. A long time ago, we'd disabled the cache because of problems with users getting each other's cached pages. I thought that as it had been a while since we installed this, I'd try re-enabling caching.

There were 35,000 files in the cache folder and purging the cache didn't seem to get rid of them.

So I manually deleted them - except the cachd.idx file which is locked, not surprisingly.

When I re-check "Enable additions to the cache", the activity window says something like:

o Purging web cache (0..100%)
o Updating index (0..100%)

However, the following system message instantly appears:

Object: WWW Cache
Time: 12-Mar-2007 13:57:46
Message ID: 0000
Description: Additions to the WWW cache has been disabled internally because the cache was unable to purge sufficient old entries to match the maximum size specified. Please verify your cache and purge criterion

Each time I try to re-enable, one wgc file gets added to the cache folder. Clearing the cache next deletes these.

Help!

I restarted the Wingate engine/service and the cache appears to be working now....

Cheers, Rob.
