internet via intranet

Jan 26 04 6:44 pm

Hi,

I installed wingate server on one of my company's PC this PC is windows XP and it's conected to the internet. All other Pc's are connected to this wingate server to access internet
All my company Pc's are connected to one Domain Server this server is windows server 2000 and its not a wingate server.
The problem that while all the company Pc's are connected to the internet they can brows the internet site via the local sites in my company except the computer which the wingate server is installed on, it can brows the internet sites, but it can not reach the local sites.

how to solve this problem.

Thank you.

If I understand you correctly, you're saying that all the client PC's on your network can access both internet sites and the company's intranet sites, but the WinGate machine itself can only access internet sites? If this is the case you could add the local sites to the WinGate machines Hosts file (found in %sysdir%\system32\drivers\etc on nt platforms). Now when browsing from the WinGate machine, the Hosts file will be access and the brwoser re-directed to the correct location.

This can also be done on the client machines if you wish. You can just copy the host file around all the machines on your network.

Regards

Neil
