Change default gateway

Hello,

I have two NIC in the server Wingate 5.2.2, one for LAN computer and one to External Internet (DSL). The problem is that Wingate change the routing table add Internal route (router intern) and change the default gateway and the connection to Internet failure. The packets not can sending to Internet.

Help please !!

Can you post your route table as seen before WinGate starts and after WinGate starts ? WinGate should not change your routing table.

Can you access the internet from the WinGate Server itself ? Or is the problem only seen from client machines ?

This problem occurs in the wingate Server.

Routing table before starting wingate :
Active Routes:

Default Gateway: 192.168.59.2

After stating wingate :

Yikes. What happens if you have WinGate stopped, then connect the ADSL modem ?

If the routing table is correct then connection is suscefull.

That doesn't quite answer the question though. What I'm trying to determine is if the routing table change is coming from the ADSL interface coming online, or if it is from WinGate.

So, if WinGate is stopped and you connect the ADSL interface, do you see the additional route appear ?

We are having a very simular problem. After restarting the Wingate proxy server version 5.2.2, all is working fine, we do a display of routes. An the default gateway is to the public side of the net, we see in the table the private nic and all is well.

After several minutes the default gateway changes to an IP of a novell 5.1 server address. The server is on the same subnet as wingate.

We have norton firewall on this PC running w2k, this time norton came up with a message saying that the novell server wastrying to access the internet with UDP. I gave the server permisiion. When i checked the route table, i could see the server had set up as a gateway. Shortly there after the default gateway was set to this server's ip address.

We are going to the site again this afternoon. we are going to try and block this server and bring up wingate to see what happens. The only thing the server would be calling out to another server is Time. This server is configured as a secondary server and must go to another novell 5.1 server to get his time.

Check to see if either of your Novell Servers broadcast RIP v 2 updates as well.

I am sure the Novell Servers are doing this, Standard install of novell 5.1 at SP4, need to update this one to SP6. Novell has posted a fix for TCPIP, that has a problem with default routes. Will need to apply this patch.

Blocked the Novell Server from Wingate. Restarted Wingate, did a route print and default gateway looked fine, tested several PC's, they worked fine. Then Internet stopped, did another route print and the default gateway had changed to the default gateway of the private nic in the wingate server.

I went into the services of the wingate, and told him what nic to use, for what function. I basicly removed the "Let the computer decide". I then did a route print, and the default gateway changed back to the Public nic. The internet has been wokring fine for 24 hours.

Will continue to monitor, and post with any further results.
