Problem on Client connecting using VPN

Feb 01 04 6:56 pm

I am new to Wingate and have just downloaded the evaluation copy. My intention is to have one computer using VPN connection to my office. The other computer is only used to connect to the internet.

I have set it up as follows:
PC 1 - Host the ICS and able to connect to the internet.
PC 2 - Client and is also able to connect to the internet through PC 1.

However, when I start using my company VPN on PC2 trying to connect to my company, it displays the following error when I connect:
"Create Socket failed with 10048"

When I use PC2 without ICS it is able to connect to my company VPN and proving that the VPN works. Can you please advice how can I set up Wingate to resolve this issue? Sorry, I am new to this....

Socket error 10048 refers to "Only one usage of each socket address (protocol/network address/port) is normally permitted. "

Are you using WGIC on PC2 ? How are you connecting through PC1 from PC2 ?

Your best bet might be to have NAT active and running on PC1, and point PC2's default gateway / DNS Servers to that machine.

PC2 is connected to PC1 via the network port (RJ45). I have managed to get the socket problem resolved.

However I still cannot get the VPN running. I always get terminated after authentication.

I have found from the web that it is not possible to get a VPN running through ICS. Is this correct? Can Wingate solve this limitation?

Ah, you haven't installed WinGate yet, your problem was with MS ICS. Okay. It depends on the nature of the VPN - can you provide a bit more information about it ?

I have disabled the MS ICS as I was told to do that when I installed Wingate.

I am not too familar about the VPN tool. Here is what I know:
It is from Nortel Networks and I beleive it was customized for my company. It also says 56-bit export version. I use a SecureID password generation for the password of the VPN client.
