Cannot login to Wingate control panel after a few days

Postby fiji_islander » Aug 18 04 3:27 pm

Hi

I have recently installed Wingate 6 as a trial and it worked fine for a couple of days and than on Sunday when my boss came in to use the internet in the weekend, he kept getting page cannot be displayed even though wingate is dialed out to the internet and he came browse the internet from the server side where wingate server is installed.

We use wingate on a dialup account and use java authenication. Problem now is that I myself cannot login to wingate through gate keeper. Keep getting this error:

"Connection with wingate server terminated". Username and password is correct and have even tried uninstalling, reinstalling with both password or blank password (no password) and even tried Wingate 5.2.3 but all have the same problem of not allowing me to login to wingate.

Any ideas why this happens and how to fix it?

Thanks

First, apologies for the long delay in someone getting back to you. From the sound of it, somebody has changed your access rights. As you have uninstalled, I would have expected that to be cleared from the registry - however.

1. You can send me your registry configuration and I will see if I can find a problem with it. It might take a day or two though.

OR

2. Once you've uninstalled it - you can double check that the registry has been cleared. Verify that:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Qbik Software\WinGate

is clean. Note that this might involve editing the registry. Before you do anything like that, make sure you have a backup / system restore point so you can recover if something goes wrong.

If you are importing the registry configuration from an earlier version - skip that step - as it might contain the incorrect access rights setup.

OR

3. Verify the adapter settings. I'm not sure from your earlier post if you're ever able to log in with GateKeeper. If you can - make sure that they are marked as "Internal" and "External" as appropriate.
