How can client behind wingate proxy access different IP?

Postby a1opus » Sep 05 04 3:03 am

Hi:

The following are my PC configurations:

OS: Windows 2k Advance Server
Wingate: v5.0 (Build 734)
Internet Connection: DSL 256kbps
DSL CPE: ZyXEL Prestige 600 Series
2 LAN Card: One for DSL Equipment and one for LAN

On one network card IP address of Class C is allotted and on other for LAN purposes class B is allotted.

Now I want that my client behind wingate proxy can access different subnets or u can say directly connect to machines outside our LAN. How it could be possible through wingate?

So, you have a WinGate server, from which you want to be able to access machines outside of your LAN?

Are those machines out on the Internet (Through your DSL connection) ?

Do you use NAT in WinGate?

On the WinGate server - is the LAN IP address a private address and the address for the DSL public?

Hi Again:

Obviously LAN IP address is private and DSL is public one. If we delete history files then how can we anaylse our log files?

Why would you want to delete your history files?

Anyway - the first thing to check would be adapter useage. In GateKeeper, go to the Network panel and check what each adapter is set to be used as. From your description, I believe yours would be detected correctly, however, in some cases where a private IP address is assigned to an adapter with a default gateway, it is deemed to be external. (As is the case in some DSL configurations).

Secondly, have you configured your client computers correctly? You need to point their default gateway and DNS Server through the WinGate server. If you are not using WinGate's DNS Server, you will have to point them at a valid DNS Server.

You'd be surprised how NOT obvious it is. Many folks make both either public or private. That's why I asked.

History deletion is just part of my signature tag. Sorry for the confusion.
