FTP PROXY

Postby sysgraph » Sep 08 04 8:16 pm

Dear all,

I've a big big problem in my company.

I'm using Wingate 6, is a great software for monitoring the Internet access, permission and mail access, but I don't know why the FTP Proxy doesn't work correctly.

Without any settings, if I want to connect via FTP software(WS_ftp, CuteFTP, FTP Genius and other...) I receive a connection failure, because it can't resolve the hostname. Now, my question is:

The FTP Proxy are needed of a particular setting on the Wingate server?

I don't use Wingate client for my workstation, I'm only set the proxy settings in the Internet options. For this Proxy I'm using the default port, 21, but I've tried with other port, for example 821, but the problem was the same.

In the Internet Explorer Options, in the Proxy configuration I've set for the ftp protocol the port 21 but I've also tried with the www proxy port, 8080 in this case.

I've need to use this protocol because we need to connect every day to FTP server of our customer.

Many thanks and best regards

Is it only FTP that reports this kind of error? Have you configured Wingate DNS resolver?

Thanks Genie for your quikly answer.

Now I've tried another configuration:

in the windows network configuration, I've set the gateway and the dns IP addresses and now the ftp work correctly.

I don't know why because 2 weeks ago with this solution the proxy doesn't work...:)

In any case, know is ok!!

Many thanks and best regards
