Network tab, Network Connections pane, Status unknown

The Network Connection's "unknown status" is not documented. What does this or what could this mean?

On my wingate machine, the connection that is neither connected nor disconnected is the NIC interface connected to my cablemodem. The cable modem is currently not responding, so I assumed the connection status would be "Disconnected".

Unknown Status means that we couldn't discover that many details about that NIC, and is ONLY a display issue, usually seen on NT and 95. In some case this can be corrected by unplugging the cable from the interface, leaving it 20 seconds or so and then plugging the cable back in (This doesn't work for NT though).

However, having an 'Unknown Status' should not effect the interface from working properly.
