Wingate 6 once installed no access to internet (DNS?)

Postby eddy » Oct 21 04 11:41 pm

OS: Windows XP Pro
Wingate Version: 6.0.3 (Trial)
Connection: ADSL via dial connection
Nic IP: 10.172.123.101

I have installed the latest wingate on Windows XP Pro and now this machine can not access the internet I cant ping outside address.

ping www.google.com
ping 66.102.11.99

Both result in no reply (host unreachable)

If I sign into a client machine, and try to access a webpage I get the same, no page. I can see in gatekeeper wingate doing DNS lookups for the webpages requested.

I have tried the following.

1. Disabled the wingate firewall.
2. Set DNS Servers Manual.
3. On the DNS tab set it to only use the Internet connect.
4. Set my own DNS server in all places I could see where I could set DNS Servers.

I have now uninstalled version 6 as the customer needs internet access, I put them back to an earlier version (5) of wingate which works a treat.

If anyone could shed some light on this as I need to visit the customers site next month and install and purcahse an 100 user licence.

G'day,

Did you happen to check the adaptor 'usage' in the Network tab, just to be sure that the internet side was 'external' and traffic will route correctly? http://forums.qbik.com/viewtopic.php?t=2834

Report back and someone will take it further.
