Legal use of Wingate

Postby mic » Nov 02 04 10:32 pm

Hello,
Company A has licensed version of Wingate for 50 users
Company B is the same building with comapny A.
They are not affiliate of each other, however have the same owner.
Can employees of B use Wingate whisch licensed for A?
Or B must have separate license? or B can rent Wingate from A
how it works on practice?

Your WinGate License is for a number of concurrent users. That's quite an important distinction with other proxy / connection sharing solutions that are based on a number of 'seats'.

When you activate a license, it is for a single Gateway. Should you wish to move it to another computer, you would need to de-activate it on the one, and re-activate on the other.

Now, armed with those two facts, I don't think there is any problem with you connecting users from different companies through a single Gateway.

You should just be aware that you can't re-use the license on a separate computer (You'll be unable to activate it) and that you should keep a close eye on the number of concurrent users, as WinGate will restrict access to that number of unique users.

Will double check with Adrien though, and post back if that summation is incorrect.
