Features

Not sure if this is an appropriate medium for feature request. However...

1. Would be good if the DHCP service could list the current leases somewhere in the properties of the service etc.

2. Have helped a customer setup accounting in Wingate in order to time limit users as in an internet cafe. Would be good if customer were able to see their balance by accessing a local page (or in the java login window or maybe a seperate plugin) By the way, the accounting has been working pretty good. A $ amount is set on the accounts and policies checks that the balance is positive. There are small overruns, but acceptable and in some cases useful as grace time.

3. Possibility to filter the activity list to only show updates for a certain user or connection. Currently able to pause updates, but would like to see feature that only shows activity updates for a selected user or connection.

Some good ideas in there - we have looked into the DHCP one before, just never made it to a high enough priority, but we still hope to put it in... should go on the Network tab

Good to hear the accounting is working well!

Also the filter option on the activity is a good idea too, shouldn't be too hard to implement either.

Hi,

Unfortunately I disagree with your appreciattion about accounting:

1. You cannot set a filter with "Account balance greater then 0,0": I mean you cannot set a number with decimals. The easy solution is to set 1 instead of 0.
2. The figures in the Accounting tab don't update frequently; Indeed, sometimes they do fast and some other seems to freeze for long time.
3. If you start a download, let's say a Linux distribution of 700 MB, just a moment before your account goes to zero (1 I mean) the connection is not terminated by Wingate till the current operation doesn't finish. So the Internet Cafe bussines direct to bankruptcy.

Perhaps I'm not setting things right.

(I have set "Everyone" in "System policies" with a filter "Account balance greater than 0")

I agree the accounting does not update until a session has ended, which means it's not very useful in a true internet cafe.

Should be able to just specify a time limit on a users account. eg. If they are on for over an hour, then deny acess.
