Hi Harri
We mention the scenario of WinGate not located on a domain controller to simplify the explanation. Since it is common practice to not have a proxy server such as WinGate located on a Domain Controller, as the domain controller holds security info such as AD userdatabase etc) and since WinGate will be connected to the internet, we try to describe a relatively secure setup.
We also use this same scenario to help explain synchronisation the Active Directory userdatabase as its stored on the Domain Controller in the AD.
WinGate will work installed to the domain controller (BDC or PDC, or AD Domain Controller), it is merely DHCP and DNS guidelines that must be adhered to, so that the AD and WinGate will work well together.
Hope this helps
Regards
Erwin
