Hi Guys.
I enable the Basic Autentication feature on my Wingate 6.01 Port 80, so I can control my Internet Access. But I got the following message on my Outlook Express asking me for new autentication every time I check my mails on Hotmail. And there is no open window or box for me to do another autentication. I have to re-open my browser, wait for the autentication window to come up, put my name and password and go back to the Outlook Express to keep checking my mail.

Is there a easy way to do this?
Thank you guys in advanced.

First thought would be - update to 6.0.3. Only because it's the latest version and has any bugs / problems in earlier versions ironed out.
Hotmail uses HTTP. If you are putting basic authentication on, I assume you have a policy indicating that they need at least "Assumed" status?
If so, the easiest option would be to add a second policy, for "Everyone" (Or users as applicable) which does not require "Assumed" status. Once you've got that, go to the advanced rights and add the appropriate filters and criterion to allow access to Hotmail only.
That way, your hotmail will not require authentication through WinGate, but everything else should. If that's not quite what you want, post back.

Thank you very much!!!
I add the filters and criterion and it Work.
But if is not too much to ask, how do I get my login autentication again?
This way the user can check mail without autentication and only needs
to authenticate to surf the NET.
I´ve tried the 2 options;
- user may be assumed
- user must be authenticated
on the new user everyone I´ve just created and it fails
You guys Rock!!!

Yes, the way you described it (For authentication) is the way that setup will work.
Is it a popup that is shown when OutLook Express asks you to login? Or do you not see any login option at all?

It´s me again,
I don´t see a login window at all.
and thanks again for all your attention!!!

Did you see that in your previous attempts? (When using Hotmail - I suspect not)

No,
Previously when I want to check my mails I have to open my browser,
log in and keep on a home page that gets new information everytime
in order to keep the conecttion alive.
Now I Don´t see the login windows anymore...

Is that the case? You still get the popup for the web, but not for email, right?
Alright, the situation you are finding yourself in seems to be one of the connection timing out and thus dropping your authentication status.
Hotmail through Outlook Express does not seem capable of handling basic authentication; although the browser does.
I suspect your easiest alternative might be to move to another authentication scheme (Such as NTLM which you can enable by switching to the OS Userdatabase) OR to use a different authentication scheme totally, like the WinGate Internet Client.

Thanks for your help.
I´ll try both solutions to see which one fits the best.
Bye and thanks again.
