SMTP/POP3 by proxy into exchange

Postby corcoran » Apr 19 05 5:03 am

HERRRRRREEEE's a question...

i'm running wingate for my pop3 proxying (which will continue, honest); but at another location i want to toy with exchange (mostly for sharing calendars between users) and to flirt with setting up for email.

Can i create a local domain on wingate, but have it push email through to my exchange server, and vice versa? Does my exchange box need a 'next hop' set on it to jump through my Gate?

my 'domain' on the exchange server is a "subsid.holdings.local", which is totally ridiculous and will have to change it - but is all the above possible?!!?!?

Yes you can do this with WinGate. In a number of different ways as well. I would recommend looking at the Mail Server document for WinGate 6 which explains a number of different scenarios, and how to incorporate WinGate in to them.

Scenario 2 is probably the one you're after.
