Wingate 6.0.x caching

Postby geoffmgreen » May 27 05 2:04 pm

Recently upgraded to latest vesion 6, few simple caching questions please:

1) is there a viewer to see the .wgc file stored in cache directory or are they undecipherable? mainly want to be sure secure data is not present to comply with regulations

2) if accessing secure web-based sites using 128 bit SSL encryption, does the data entered on forms become a part of cache (assume all web URLs cached)

3) is it good practice to not cache a minimum file size, say 40 kb

Thanks in advance.

Hi

HTTPS sites are not cached at all. This is because the browser negotiates a secure connection with the site, and we don't see the un-encrypted data in WinGate, and also for security reasons we don't cache files that are the result of a query or post (form submission).

I think there is a tool around on the net somewhere to view the cache as well.

Regards
