Slow Internet Connection

Postby DRB » Jun 10 05 10:55 am

I recently upgraded to Wingate 6.

I now find that www access from client machines (we have 2 on our network) is very slow. For example connection to google.com takes around 25 seconds. During this time Gatekeep activity shows a waiting TCP connection.

However, connecting to Google, via wingate, on the pc that is running wingate is pretty much instantaneous.

Internet connection is via a 512K broadband connection. Client TCP is set to obtain IP and DNS addresses automatically.

Please can you advise how I can overcome this problem.

Thank you

Some questions / suggestions.

1. It sounds like you are using NAT, are intercepts enabled as well?
2. Are you running any data scanning plugins with WinGatge?
3. What version is your WinGate; the latest is 6.0.4
4. What Operating system are you running
5. Is your broadband modem internal / external?
6. Can you upgrade your network card and (if) Internal modem driver?
7. Can you place a DNS address directly into the 2 clients that will bypasses your modem / wingate server... e.g ring your ISP and ask "Can you please give me the IP addresses of two of your DNS servers?"
8. Does this problem happen consistently
