Hello ,

Im new to wingate , mainly i use ISA / Sygate , im obliged to use Wingate on one of my projects , the Network im implementing uses Private IP addresses (10.x.x.x) , Wingate should be used for a NAT/Proxy solution , i just wanna get some Questions answered :

- Can clients in the above configuration use MSN/Yahoo and use Webcam or Voice chat ?

- Can clients using voice applications (PhoneServ - Net2phone) , use Wingate to connect and talk regularly ?

- is their a feature like the H323 gateway on Wingate ?

- If all the above is possible , is it obligatory to install a firewall client or not ?

Hi,

MSN/Yahoo works through Wingate - there are a couple of forum threads about it.

Wingate does not have H323 support. However, with WGIC client installed it should work fine.

There is not firewall client as such, but Wingate comes with WGIC client - it's an LSP client which makes easier to control traffic from the client machine. However, it is not compulsory to install WGIC in the client machines.

Anomaly in operation and

Postby Festus Idowu » Jun 14 05 9:41 pm

My organisation is a licensed user of Wingate with Perpetual/Unlimited access.
The software has been running on our proxy server for some time now.
However, in the last one month we have been experiencing some problems relating to interrupted internet access. The software will just hang thereby not allowing people to connect o internet even though i can browse internet on the proxy server.
To allow for connection again, i have to restart the proxy server.
I personally think that this is an anomaly, please help to resolve this issue as it is impacting negatively on our services.

We are licensed for version 4.5.1, what do i do to upgrade to the latest version. Endeavour to send the procedures for upgrading.

Best idea would be to upgrade to 6.0.4 as that sounds remarkably like a deadlock and we've fixed a multitude of them since 4.5.1.

You can re-use your 4.x license key with 6.x - simply download and install the upgrade and then activate your 4.x license with 6.0.4.

Remember to make a backup of your settings (As the installer prompts) incase you have difficulties during the upgrade process.
