SMTP problems.

Postby Trumptight » Jun 17 05 8:46 am

Just installed 6.0 a week ago and have everything figured out for what we need to do except the smtp. Any time anyone tries to send a message thier outlook gives this error:

The message could not be sent because one of the recipients was rejected by the server. The rejected e-mail address was 'REJECTED@address.here'. Subject 'test', Account: '192.168.0.2', Server: '192.168.0.2', Protocol: SMTP, Server Response: '550 Mailbox unavailable by policy', Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 550, Error Number: 0x800CCC79

Any ideas?

This could be because it is from an untrusted client for a locally handled domain that:

(a) default handling is disabled and no specific address handler
(b) default handling is disabled and the specific address handler is disabled
(c) default handling is enabled but the user's mailbox does not exist or is disabled

The other case is when policy (SMTP Server and System Policies, depending on your setup) denies access to the service. If you turn debug logging on for the service and see a "==== Sender address (x) does not exist on this server - blocked" message then it is the former case.

To turn on default handling in the domain, select the checkbox on the addresses tab in the domain config dialog for the domain that your users are sending from.
