FTP connect

Postby Trumptight » Jun 23 05 1:44 am

Here is my dilemma.
I have a program called Macromedia contribute I use to edit our companies web page. I have double checked to make sure that this program uses port 21 to connect. I have tried connecting to the ftp server via command line and throught the program. I have also tried testing to another ftp server I know to be up and running all the time.

I also have a FTP server for students to access files set up on my internal network. In the FTP proxy server under services I have it set up to pipe all requests to the internal server. This works fine.

So I went into the "extended networking" area under the system tab and made the following a

In LAN connections to the internet I added a allow port 21 for UDP and TCP. Under policies I allowed "everyone" and selected "must also be granted".

Still I cannot access the external FTP server.

any ideas?

Hi,

Sounds like you might be intercepting connections on port 21 and redirecting them to your internal FTP server.

Try removing the redirection from the FTP proxy, can you access the external server now?

If yes then simply recreate the redirection in the Port Security menu of Extended Networking for connections from the internet, this will redirect all icoming connections to your hosted FTP server and allow outgoing connections to reach the internet.
