Wingate as an FTP server

Postby sanders » Jun 27 05 3:07 am

Hi!

Got to tell you first how much I love WinGate - never had any problems, works like a dream and I keep finding new things I can do with it!

That said...I'm probably going to make myself look foolish now.

Is it possible to use Wingate as an FTP server? If so, how?

I'm using Wingate 6 as a simple NAT device (not as a proxy) and I have set up a dynamic DNS for my IP address (I do not have a static IP) with dynu.com.

I realise it would be possible to turn my PC into an ftp server using another piece of software (as described at http://www.ftpplanet.com/ftpresources/pc_ftpserver.htm), but I'd prefer not to if WinGate can do it instead.

I look forward to your reply.

Hi,

No, Wingate does not have FTP server capabilities - it does implement HTTP service, but not FTP.
