novell bordermanager vpn client through wingate

Postby mckinley » Jul 15 05 3:31 pm

I have Wingate 5.? running on a w2k machine to the internet via a dsl router. It works great. The machines on my local lan access the internet, get email, etc. I recently have installed novell's bordermanager vpn client on an XP pro machine on my local lan so I can access novell server across the internet. The client connects to the novell server but I cannot browse the server with internet explorer. When I plug directly into my dsl router so that I bypass the wingate machine, I can then browse the novell server. Does any one have any ideas on what settings I need to make in wingate to allow this to happen?

Thanks,
mdw

Hi

Just read the user guide for the BorderManager client. Doesn't say much about it, but hints that it uses IPSEC. By default IPSEC uses the ESP protocol for data tunnels, which won't go through WinGate.

It mentions UDP encapsulation. Can you turn this on? UDP will go through WinGate's NAT fine.

I don't know if I can turn on udp encapsulation. I'll ask the IT guy where I'm trying to log on to.

Thanks for the reply.
