ADSL for Wingate, SDSL for RRAS on one server, how to ?

Postby ITB » Jul 05 05 1:24 am

Our current situation:
We have a server installed with Wingate and connected to a ADSL modem.
We also have RRAS (Windows 2003) on that server for hosting our VPN connections. All the data, internet + VPN, is transferred over the ADSL modem.

This is what we would like to create:
A server with an ADSL and a SDSL modem (so it has 3 networkcards).
We want wingate to only use the ADSL modem and RRAS to use only the SDSL modem.

Is this possible ? And if yes, HOW ?
We couldn't get it to work...
I've been told there's a life outside the internet, but I can't seem to find the download file :(

Yes, you can instruct Wingate to use only one line - either through routing table, where the only default route is your ADSL line - or through gateway selection setup in proxies configuration.

Thanks, totally looked over the gateway selection option.
Going to try that next weekend :).

Definitely going to try it this weekend... ;)

But I just want to be shure If I'm going to do it right:

1) Since RRAS uses the default gateway I want SDSL to be the main line. So, all traffic is send over SDSL. Even Internet traffic from the server itself.

2) The ADSL line is also going to be configured/enabled.

3) In Wingate the LAN, SDSL and ADSL connections are configured as Internal Network adapters.

4) In WWW Proxy Server properties, option Gateways, I currently have "Use any available connection". When I set this to "Use specified connections in priority order", I can choose the following options:
WWW Proxy Server
|----ADSL Connection
|----Gateways
| |--Any Gateway
| |--X.X.X.A (IP Modem)
|
|----Source IP Address
|--Any IP Address
|--X.X.X.B (IP Network Card connected to modem)
|--Specify IP

The SDSL Connection isn't enabled currently so I'm not seeying this yet.
I also think that X.X.X.A (IP Modem) won't be an option, because when I connect my SDSL, the ADSL Connection doesn't have a gateway address anymore. Otherwise I would have 2 gateway address, which in my point of view, doesn't work...

So, my question is, which option do I have to select to get all traffic from Wingate Client over the ADSL line, when the SDSL line is my default gateway on the Wingate Server ?

Hope you understand it :)...
