NAT disconnects after a inactivity

Nov 13 03 3:05 am

All services in WinGate have the option to set the time of inactivity after WinGate terminates the session. It is also possible to deactivate the feature and then the service never time outs.

The only service which has NOT this feature is ENS/NAT. So it timesout after a unknown time. Is there a possability to turn this off ?

I use WinGate version 5.0.7.

thanx James

In a 'default timeout' sense this is possible, but not through GateKeeper. These Timeout values have to be added to the registry; where depends on you type of OS.

If NT based then:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\QbikHkxx\Parameters

or if 9x based:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\VxD\QbikHkxx\Parameters

the values are:

"TimeoutICMP" -(dword) default timeout for ICMP traffic / seconds

"TimeoutUDP" -(dword) default timeout for UDP traffic / seconds

"TimeoutTCP" -(dword) default timeout for TCP connections / seconds

Once you have set these you will need to reboot your system.

NOTE: AS ALWAYS, ONLY EDIT YOUR REGISTRY IF YOU KNOW WHAT YOU ARE DOING, AND TAKE THE NECESSARY PRECAUTIONS, SUCH AS MAKING A BACKUP BEFORE YOU CHANGE ANYTHING.

You can of course set your own time outs in the Port Security tab of the ENS properties, for manually created ENS 'redirects' and 'allows'.

Neil
