My client has 3 Windows XP systems and 1 W98 system. Wingate v6.0.0 running on one of the XP systems which is connected to a router via a 2nd NIC in the system. Norton SystemWorks is on most of the systems - not by my choice!
Yesterday morning, everything was working well then suddenly none of the systems could connect to the Wingate server. They could all access shared folders on the network, Ping saw all the systems so it doesn't appear to have been a network problem. All the systems were rebooted to no effect.
All I can think of is that something updated itself on the Wingate system but cannot think what it might have been.
I added the Wingate system IP address and name to WGIC but on Refresh, it disappeared.
In desperation I uninstalled WGIC and downloaded the latest release of Wingate and ran it on the other systems. I had to tell it to install Client as it didn't detect a server.
Now, the systems are connecting to the Internet, sending & receiving mail via Wingate, but no server appears in WGIC!
Can anyone explain why:
a) the systems suddenly 'lost' the Wingate server?
b) why none of the systems still cannot see the Wingate server yet are using it?
c) what can I do to get them to see the Wingate server?
Thanks
Jackie
