Port 135/139/445

Postby Marauder69FR » Aug 27 05 9:37 am

Hello,

I always have log in firewall tab about Access denied on Port 135, 139 & 445.
Shall I open these ports or not ?
They are use by netbios?
Is it dangerous to open them ?
Thanks!

Does your firewall say it is from local addresses or external addresses?

Please check that your adapters were detected correctly by WinGate:
The network card pointing towards the LAN should be marked as "Internal" and the network card / modem pointing towards the internet should be marked as "External"; as shown in the image below. GateKeeper --> View menu --> Network

Alright, then all you're seeing is your firewall protecting you against traffic trying to reach your LAN computers. That is pretty normal - and I'd advise against opening those ports as they are netbios related and you don't really want people from outside being able to discover/browse your network.
