the "Bandwidth Control" module seemed no any effec

Postby takusa100 » Sep 29 05 10:26 pm

installed WG's Version is 6.0.0 963 beta, The Most interested change to me is adding new Module "BandWidth Control",but i tried it all day and used every possible settings, it still had no any effect about Client Download Bandwidth. (by the way, the Help Manual is the pre-version without any explaination about new features except adding a "Version 6" announce in the topic,faint...)
In the "scheduling" setting page, i just use the System Default.
In the "restrictions" setting page ,i create a new restriction called "20KB/s";priority is default level 3;Restriction set to 160Kbits.
the WG machine's Lan adapter ip is 192.168.0.2/24,and i have a test Client PC 192.168.0.10/24, What i need is let this PC's download speed equal 20K/s.So in the "Rules" page,i add a new rule:destination IP is 192.168.0.10;mask is 255.255.255.255 ,source IP is 0.0.0.0 and mask is 0.0.0.0, and uncheck "Rule is bi-directional";in General Tab ,i unchecked all blanks and apply the restriction "20KB/s" and reverse bandwidth still is "20KB/s".
In fact ,these setting hadn't been applied, how sad ~~~

is any problem about these settings ? i really need this very much,so help me please.

Hi,

The first thing that you should do is upgrade to the latest version, the beta version is just that, whereas the latest release version should be fine.

Secondly, I'm not too sure about something you said. You said that you created the restriction at 160kbits/sec, but you wanted the client to only download at 20kbs, is this correct?

thanks for your response.
oh ,sorry maybe what i said is not clear,my poor english...

i just tested the efficiency about the BandWidth Control module, i need restrict a client PC download bandwidth under 20K Bytes /s, so i created a rules which is 160K bit /s (i prefer the Bytes expression to bits, :). and then i noticed another person who had a simlar question like me :

http://forums.qbik.com/viewtopic.php?t=3948&highlight=bandwidth+control

i just want to know his question had been solved ?

I see, sorry, missed the kB. How are you connecting the client machine to the WinGate server?

What are you using to test the bandwidth?

Once you've set the restriction to 160kb/s what is the effective bandwidth that you're seeing?

thanks.
in the client PC(192.168.0.10) ,the default gateway is the WG's LAN IP(192.168.0.2).

i just used the Web download link which is provided by ISP to test the bandwidth. and the total bandwidth i had is about 500KB /s.
when i download a large file using IE explorer, before i applied the 20KB/s rule is as same as after .
IE explorer would display the current download speed, and taskmgr.exe had the bandwidth recorder too. in my test ,just only a WG server & a NAT client. so i can confirm the bandwidth is not changed.
