Guest or User ?

Postby Marauder69FR » Oct 13 05 8:46 am

Hello

I've got a small home network with 3 machines.

One W2K running with Wingate (192.168.0.1).
Two workstations running Windows XP (192.168.0.2 & 192.168.0.3).
No domain controler (only a workgroup)

When I use IE with the first client, the connected user correctly appears in the activity window as PC1-myname. When someone use the second PC, it appears only as PC2 (no username). He's connected as guest.
Why ?

User accounts are the same on all machines.

What's wrong ?

Thanks

Best regards

If the name is displaying there, that means that the client is authenticating somehow.

Are you using the Windows user database in WinGate?

Did you configure any policies in the WWW Proxy that require authentication (maybe for one user but not the other?).

Regards
