Relaying HTTP Protocol WAN to WAN

Postby Kbohacz » Dec 30 05 6:18 am

This is a pre-sale question.

Is it possible to setup the proxy server so that a HTTP proxy connection coming in on the WAN NIC interface can be handled through WinGate proxy via the WAN NIC Interface. The only protocol we want to proxy is HTTP/HTTPS.

Details:

1. No LAN NIC to WAN NIC proxy operations required

2. Client on Internet is setup for HTTP to use a proxy server accessible over the internet.

3. WinGate is setup with only a WAN Interface, no LAN (or an isolated LAN)

4. Client will relay HTTP/HTTPS requests through the proxy; WAN-Proxy-Port to WAN.

5. Access control will be via IP Address; no need for additional client authentication.

6. Internet client will likely be coming through a NAT device/firewall/router or other Proxy.

Purpose:To use WinGate as part of a restricted access private HTTP proxy for use by clients on the Internet.

Hi,

This should be no problem, just create a binding policy in the WWW proxy service to bind it to the external adapter. This will automatically open a hole in the WinGate firewall and will allow external (WAN) users connect to the proxy.

Binding WWW Proxy to External Adapter.

5. Access control will be via IP Address; no need for additional client authentication.

Will that be done on the router, or via WinGate policies / Assumed Users?
