Hi, on the company I'm working with we've upgraded to a 64 bits platform the computer where we run wingate. We've also installed from zero Windows 2003 Server x64 Standard Edition with SP1 and all the Microsoft security updates avaible. The platform is an ASUS mainborad with AMD 3000+ processor and 1 GB of DDR-RAM.
We've joined the computer to the domain as a simple computer and afterwards we have installed Wingate 6.1.1.1077.
The problem is that there's no way to run ENS eventhough we ask the driver to load when system starts, the system says "The ENS driver was not loaded. This may mean that is missing or has been disabled,...". We've no other firewall on this machine and the OS firewall is disabled. Maybe the problem is a driver incompatibility with 64 bits platform although I've read nothing about that. There's anybody have a new about that, any solution a part from going back to a 32 bits OS, maybe I should run ENS in a 32 bits compatibility mode;? Thanks in advance.
All the other features seems to work properly.

Hello,
We're having the same problem here. Upgraded our internet server to a PIV 64bit platform wit Windows XP Pro for x64. Mainboard is nothing fancy, a Biostar P4M800-M7 with a 2.8Ghz processor. The system has no other software installed, no firewall, no AV... nothing but wingate 6.1.1. Please advise on how to proceed. Thank you.

Hi again,
Did some research on the forum and found some suggestions to try. I have reinstalled WG and made sure the install ENS box was checked. The problem persisted, so I looked for the driver in WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\DRIVERS and found NO filenames starting with qbikhk**, even though the registry key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\QbikHkXP does exist and has the Imagepath value set to "\SystemRoot\System32\drivers\qbikhkXP.sys"
Is there an ENS driver for x64? Should I be looking in a different folder or something. Please advice ASAP since we're working around the clock (well, almost) upgrading hardware for our network. If XP64 won't work with wingate fully, we may have to change our migration strategy.

Just another update:
I found the qbikhkxp.sys file in the C:\WINDOWS\SysWOW64\Drivers folder. I tried changing the ImagePath value in the registry and rebooted but it didn't work. I still get the message that the ENS driver was not loaded. Any ideas?
Thanks again for your prompt help.

Hi
The ENS driver is not 64 bit compatible, there is a fair bit of assembler code in there that is 32 bit specific.
If all the machine will run is WinGate, is there any need to have the OS 64 bit?

Yeah, I believe that this machine will only be working as an internet server or bridge. Too bad the ENS driver is not yet compatible. Any plans to release one? Anyway, in the meantime we're working with just proxy settings. We may go back to our old system an use that one for a while then. :(.
Thanks for your help, though.

Hi
We have plans for 64bit obviuosly, but these were recently hampered by Compuware's decision to discontinue SoftIce - our kernel debugger tool. The current version doesn't really support 64 bit (not for what we need).
The only alternative we know of is MS WinDbg, which isn't anywhere near as powerful.
