wingate proxy

Postby kyle Bradshaw » Apr 28 06 5:57 am

my company is currenty using wingate 6.0.4 which has been working fine up until a few days ago. Now it seems to be broadcasting it's proxy settings to all of the pc's on the network. I have tried removing the proxy setting for IE and setting connection settings to autodetect connection settings but have recieved no joy as the login box still pops up. I restarted the server with wingate on it but that did not help i even tried uninstalling IE from the PC and reinstalling it but it still comes up. I feel i'm at the end of my rope here guys not really familiar with wingate because i just got employed there a little while back and haven't gotten the chance to interact much with it now the bosses are alll over my back i really need some help here.

hi

WinGate doesn't broadcast any proxy settings, but depending on your LAN configuration, WinGate will respond to lookups for proxy auto-configuration.

Are you using DHCP on your LAN? If so, are you using Wingate's DHCP server, or another one? Do you have an active directory?

Also sounds like you are having a problem with policy setup causing WinGate to request authentication from client browsers. Removing IE on the WinGate machine won't make any difference there.

Also did anyone change any settings in WinGate lately? If not, did anyone change any settings on another server, i.e. DHCP or DNS server on your network lately?

WinGate doesn't normally randomly start behaving differently if noone made any configuration changes to it.

Regards
