Bypass Authentication

Hi All

I have a Wingate 5 server with 20 clients all using the Java authentication window.

Windows Update works OK provided that the user is logged in.

Windows Automatic Updates fail because the user is not logged in.

How do I configure the server to allow requests for the Windows Update website to connect without being authenticated?

Hi Rob

To do that, you simply add a policy that grants anyone rights to the windows update site.

Go to the WWW proxy, select the policy tab, click "Add", leave the first tab as is (everyone, can be guest), and on the advanced tab, add a filter, add a criterion, and choose "server contains windowsupdate".

That will allow unauthenticated access to any URL containing windowsupdate. If there are some other windows update sites you need, you would need to add another filter and criterion for each one again.
