SMTP Problems with WGC

Postby pablocesar » Jun 09 06 6:24 am

Hi

I have the next scenario

LAN 10.0.0.X with an Internet connection and a VPN with other LAN's connected, for example, 10.0.1.X, so i installed a Wingate Server (6.1.2 build 1094) on a Windows 2000 Server. Before these scenario, i used a proxy but i had to setup in every app the proxy configuration, and there were some of them that didn't work fine, so i decided to try Wingate with de Wingate Client. In the workstations connected to the LAN it works perfect, but in every other LAN there is a Server running an internal Exchange Server that comunicates between them and with the one in the Central Stores that's connected to the internet, so far there was no problems, but with the Wingate Client installed on a Server of one of the LAN's, the SMTP service didn't work, i had to uninstall it but i have now apps that i can't use.

Sugestions?

I read about the scenarios with Wingate as mail server and stuff, but i don't like that solution, is there anyway to exclude the SMTP Service from the WGC? Thanks a lot.

Hi

We found a problem with the WinGate Client related to Outlook accessing an Exchange server. We fixed this in WinGate 6.1.3 (released yesterday).

You could try that, otherwise you can set outlook to local mode, then your other apps should work.

WinGate Client configuration -> Applications, add Outlook.exe, and set to local.
