Hi, I have four DSL connections coming into my WinGate server. Three of them are with Orcon and one is with XTRA. XTRA doesn't allow relaying of email unless it's with their own account etc. I was wondering how I would setup that all POP3 access is downloaded via the XTRA connection, and any email sent thru a particular user gets sent via the XTRA connection and anyone else through an Orcon connection.
Sounds confusing I know...
So basically I need:
ALL POP3 ACCESS ---> XTRA
SMTP XTRA ADDRESS ---> XTRA
SMTP OTHER ADDRESS ---> ORCON

Wingate can act as its own smtp server so when your users send out through wingate, the emails will go directly out bypassing your isp's mail servers.
I have wingate setup to send mail directly, and if mail can't be delivered directly, relay it to my mail server to deliver.
I think you can bind POP3 to any adapter you want so go into the POP3 server service and bind to the adapter that you want (xtra?)

to enable smtp deliver directly, double click the "email" service on the control pane, and then click "delivery" on the left.
On the right click enable delivery of mail, and set the dropdown menu to "send mail directly".
Set your clients mail programs to point to wingate's internal ip address. Then when they send out mail, it will goto wingate, and wingate will send it out directly.
If you want to bind POP3 to XTRA, double click pop3 service and look at the bindings tab. Just add a binding and point it to your xtra adapter. I haven't actually done this part before, but I believe thats how.

XTRA now by default blocks outbound connections to port 25, except for connections to smtp.xtra.co.nz.
I guess this is to help us not to spread spam or something... sigh.
Anyway, you can opt out of it, which will then let your xtra connection be used for delivering mail.
You need to reboot the DSL modem though, as their router doesn't reset config for you until you reconnect (this got me at home for a while).
