WinGate dials when I print

Postby PooNode » Dec 05 03 2:36 am

Wingate server runs on an XP machine that is, on occasion, used by employees as a workstation, it has a local printer attached to it, its not a shared printer, no one else has access to it. But whenever we print to it WinGate dials up a connection to our ISP, I'm not sure why, nothing unexpected shows in the history on the Wingate Gatekeeper.

All printer drivers have been re-installed and we can'tmoveprinter to anotherworkstation, weonly have 4 to choose from and they all have at least 1 printer attached already !!

There must be something triggering WinGate's dialer.

On some versions of WinGate a UPnP connection will do this - is this a USB printer?

If you look in the log files for the dialer service, you will see which requests are making the dialer dial. You should be able to use the policies for the dialer to ban this and stop the dialing in this case.
